A 70-year-old man was seriously injured on Monday morning after falling in a rocky area in Begur, in the Baix Empordà area of Girona province.
The alert reached the Generalitat Firefighters at 10.30am. They sent a helicopter from the Special Actions Group, known as GRAE, along with a ground vehicle to the scene.
When crews arrived, medical staff from the Medical Emergency System, or SEM, treated the man, who had severe injuries. He was then flown to hospital by the Firefighters' helicopter.
Begur Local Police and the Mossos d'Esquadra also took part in the response. The Mossos are Catalonia's regional police force.
Authorities have not released further details about the man's condition or what led to the fall. For more Catalonia-wide updates, see our news coverage.
