A man was critically injured on the AP-7 motorway near Cambrils, in Tarragona, after being hit by a lorry on Monday, 9 June. The incident happened at kilometre point 265, heading north towards Tarragona, and caused traffic disruption on one lane of the motorway.
Emergency services were alerted at 13:26 through a 112 call. According to provisional information from the Catalan Traffic Service, the initial police line of inquiry suggests the incident may have been a suicide attempt.
The victim received immediate care from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) and was taken to hospital in a critical condition. The exact circumstances that led to the man being on the motorway and struck by the vehicle are still under investigation.
Mossos d'Esquadra officers attended the scene and closed one of the two northbound lanes so emergency crews could work safely and traffic could be managed. The lane remained closed for about an hour and a quarter, reopening around 14:45, with traffic returning to normal shortly after.
