In Girona province, Catalan police have arrested two lorry drivers in connection with alleged diesel thefts from parked lorries on the AP-7 motorway. The arrests took place in Salt and Figueres on Tuesday night, according to officials.

Mossos d'Esquadra said the investigation began after several reports of fuel thefts at the AP-7 service area near Aiguaviva. Victims told police they had been sleeping in their cabins when thieves drilled holes into their fuel tanks to remove diesel.

The two suspects, aged 34 and 40, are both Romanian nationals and work in the transport sector. Police said they were identified during the inquiry and later detained on suspicion of robbery with force.

The men have appeared before a judge. Police have not ruled out their involvement in other similar incidents across the Girona area, and the investigation is continuing.
