In Lloret de Mar, children and young people aged 4 to 16 can now apply for the T-16 card, which allows free travel on interurban buses to Blanes and Tossa de Mar. The card replaces the previous T-Estudiant and covers the Blanes, Lloret and Tossa integration zone, according to Lloret de Mar officials.
At present, the T-16 is valid only on interurban bus routes. The local council says it is working with the Girona Territorial Mobility Authority, known as the ATMG, so the card can also be used on Lloret’s urban bus service.
Officials say new validators will be installed on urban buses once the integration is complete. Joan Escalona, the mobility councillor, said the aim is to make the T-16 valid on the town bus before the next school year starts, with the system expected to be operational by July.
Residents must apply for the card through the ATM Girona website. Lloret de Mar’s council approved joining the ATMG in March, and the authority’s board approved the town’s membership on 19 May.
From September, when the urban service is fully integrated, the T-16 is expected to become the standard free travel card for eligible young people in Lloret de Mar. The council says the move is intended to improve mobility for younger residents and make travel to nearby towns easier for school, social and leisure trips.
