The Ecoindustria project, a cross-municipal initiative in the Llobregat Delta, has been recognised as a leading example at the II National Convention on Circular Economy and Industrial Innovation in Albacete. This project, driven by the councils of Sant Boi, Gavà, Viladecans, Castelldefels, and El Prat, focuses on industrial circular economy principles.
Representatives from Gavà and Viladecans councils presented the project's progress and outcomes at the national forum. Their model encourages collaboration between companies to transform surplus resources into new opportunities. This makes industrial estates more efficient, resilient, and competitive, according to officials.
Driving Sustainable Development
The project's nine editions of results show a strong history of shared work between municipalities and businesses. This has created a stable model of cooperation and territorial impact. The convention, organised by ZINCAMAN, brought together institutional representatives, experts, and companies from across Spain. Its aim was to advance sustainability in the productive sector and strengthen industrial symbiosis as a tool for economic transformation.
Recognition of ECOINDUSTRIA reinforces the Delta's position as a region that promotes applied innovation, municipal alliances, and new models of sustainable economic development. Sant Boi council sees territorial cooperation as a key driver for economic and sustainable transformation.
