BARCELONA, Catalonia: A new Lleida and Tarragona working group has been launched in Barcelona to support Catalonia’s logistics sector, with the announcement made on Wednesday during the International Logistics Exhibition, SIL, at Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc.

The group was set up by the Port of Tarragona, which is currently holding the presidency of the Barcelona-Catalonia Logistics Centre association. Officials said the move responds to the high demand for logistics activity concentrated in Barcelona.

Representatives from six chambers of commerce across Tarragona and Lleida took part in the launch. Business associations and companies from the logistics and industrial sectors in Lleida, Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre also joined the initiative.

The working group, led under the presidency of Santiago J. Castellano, is intended to strengthen logistics and industrial development in these areas. It also aims to deepen ties within the region and with Aragon, with the wider goal of reinforcing Catalonia’s position in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula.
