Police in Tàrrega arrested two men, aged 20 and 35, last Friday after a gold chain robbery in Lleida’s Mangraners neighbourhood. The incident happened at about 16:55 in Plaça Encarna López, according to local police.
A man approached the woman and forcibly snatched the chain from her neck. A witness saw the suspect leave in a vehicle at high speed, and had to move out of the way to avoid being hit.
Officers traced the vehicle to an address in Tàrrega. Mossos d'Esquadra and Tàrrega Local Police were alerted, and at about 18:00 a traffic patrol found the car on Avinguda Barcelona. The two people inside matched the descriptions given by witnesses.
Police found a large bladed weapon inside the vehicle. The driver was also fined for reckless driving and for driving without a licence.
