Lleida hosted the 45th Aplec del Caragol over the weekend in Camps Elisis park, with large crowds attending despite temperatures rising above 34 degrees Celsius.

The event, known as the city’s snail festival, is a major fixture in Lleida’s cultural and culinary calendar. Visitors and local groups gathered to share meals and sample snails prepared in traditional ways.

First held in 1980, the Aplec del Caragol has grown into one of the best-known food events in Catalonia. It brings together clubs, residents and visitors for a weekend centred on local gastronomy and community activity.

The festival’s continued appeal was clear this year, as attendees kept coming to Camps Elisis even in the heat. Organisers typically plan for warm weather with measures such as shade and water, helping the event continue safely.
