Junts per Catalunya (Junts) officially presented Sílvia Ripoll as its candidate for mayor of Roses, Girona, on Friday for the upcoming municipal elections. Ripoll outlined her key priorities for the town, focusing on security, housing, and creating opportunities for young people.
Ripoll, joined by Jordi Turull, Junts president in Girona, and Mònica Sales, deputy spokesperson for the parliamentary group, stated that "neither insecurity nor the loss of trust in institutions can be normalised." She emphasised that security is a fundamental right and residents should not live in fear. Ripoll called for effective policies to combat crime and ensure peaceful coexistence in Roses.
Addressing Local Concerns
On housing, Ripoll acknowledged it as a serious issue, particularly affecting young people and low-income families. She promised to propose new solutions to make decent, affordable housing more accessible. This focus aims to tackle a long-standing challenge within the community, according to her statements.
Jordi Turull praised Ripoll's leadership and commitment to Roses. "I am convinced she will be an excellent mayor and that Junts will perform well in Roses," Turull said, urging party members and supporters to participate and mobilise. Mònica Sales highlighted the need for a strong alternative to the current municipal government.
Sales described Junts' platform as a transformative project built on proximity, efficient management, and continuous dialogue with citizens. The party aims to offer a fresh approach to local governance, addressing the concerns raised by Ripoll and other party leaders. The announcement sets the stage for a focused campaign in Roses, with Junts aiming to challenge the incumbent administration.
