In Barcelona, Junts spokesperson in the Congress, Miriam Nogueras, has accused the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, of "importing the Spanish police model into Catalan schools". She stated that what is truly needed are more teachers and increased funding for education.

Nogueras made her comments in a message on 'X' on Wednesday, according to Europa Press. She was referring to the infiltration of two Mossos d'Esquadra officers into a teachers' assembly that was organising strike days. "Teachers are not spied on. They are listened to and respected," Nogueras affirmed.

Call for increased funding

Nogueras urged Illa to "stand firm in Madrid and not return unless it is with the money that belongs to Catalans and is lost in the black hole of Madrid." She also accused him of acting as a delegate for Pedro Sánchez's government.

"Teachers must be able to be teachers, with decent conditions because we are talking about the future of our children," Nogueras said. She added that, according to her data, Catalan teachers are the lowest paid in Spain and Europe. "What politicians must do is stand up for them. For all of them. At the risk of getting our faces broken," the Junts leader emphasised.
