Josep Maria Salvatella i Suñer, former mayor of Llançà and a former Member of the Catalan Parliament, has died in Llançà, according to L'Empordà. He was also known as a writer from the Empordà region.
Born in Figueres in 1937, Salvatella moved to Llançà in 1944. His public life and literary work were closely tied to the Mar d'Amunt area, as well as to the landscape, language and history of the region.
