Author and journalist Jaume Clotet i Planas will present his latest novels, La calavera de l’apòstol (The Apostle's Skull) and L’espasa del rei (The King's Sword), at the Cafè amb Lletres literary event in Cerdanyola del Vallès on 14 May 2026.

The session, starting at 7pm, will take place in the Enric Granados Room of the Central Library. Clotet will discuss these books, which are the second and third volumes in a trilogy that began with La Germandat de l’Àngel Caigut (The Brotherhood of the Fallen Angel), winner of the 2024 Josep Pla Prize.

La calavera de l’apòstol starts with a mysterious theft at Sant Pere de Rodes, revealing the disappearance of archaeological remains of immense value. Monk Bernat Balaguer from Montserrat and Mossos d’Esquadra officer Berta Bosch begin an investigation that takes them far beyond their initial expectations, according to the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council. Their search for a sacred book stolen from the National Library of France in Paris uncovers an ancient conspiracy that threatens to shake the foundations of faith.

Historical Intrigue and Religious Enigmas

The novel's settings range from Sant Pere de Rodes to Jerusalem, with stops in Montserrat, the Vatican, and Barcelona. It combines religious enigmas, historical intrigue, time jumps, and surprising revelations, all presented with a fast pace and careful documentation.

Born in Barcelona in 1974, Jaume Clotet i Planas holds degrees in Journalism and History. He has worked across various media and institutions, including serving as a correspondent in the Basque Country for the newspaper Avui and Ona Catalana, head of politics for Avui, Director General of Communication for the Government of Catalonia, and Director of Communication for Pompeu Fabra University.

Clotet co-authored Lliures o morts (Free or Dead), a novel that has sold over 20,000 copies. He has also written several historical non-fiction and narrative works. In 2016, he won the Nèstor Luján Historical Novel Prize for El càtar proscrit (The Proscribed Cathar), followed by the Josep Pla Prize in 2024 for La Germandat de l’Àngel Caigut.

Journalist and writer Clara Ardèvol will moderate the conversation. Access to the session is free until the room reaches its full capacity.
