Catalonia's Civil Protection has deactivated the INUNCAT flood alert for central and Lleida regions, following updated meteorological forecasts for expected rainfall this Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, several areas in Central Catalonia and the Lleida province were anticipating heavy rain episodes for Thursday. Forecasts had suggested that the Alt Urgell, Noguera, Urgell, Segarra, and Solsonès counties could see up to 20 litres per square metre accumulate in just half an hour.

Reduced Rainfall Expectations

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC) has since reduced the likelihood of exceeding these earlier predictions. However, scattered showers, potential thunderstorms, and hail are still expected in some of these counties, according to officials. The precipitation is forecast to shift westwards as the afternoon progresses.

Despite the INUNCAT plan's deactivation, Civil Protection continues to urge caution among residents.
