Girona’s basketball clubs are preparing for the 2026-27 season as Spain’s top women’s league, the Liga Femenina Endesa, trials instant replay. The Spanish Basketball Federation, FEB, set out the plan at its assembly on Saturday, 30 May 2026, with team registration open until 3 July.
Among the Girona sides expected to register are Spar Girona for the Liga Femenina Endesa, Sol Gironès Bisbal Bàsquet for Segunda FEB, and GEiEG Pacisa for Liga Femenina 2. All three are due to begin their regular season campaigns on the weekend of 3 October.
The replay system will also be used in the men’s second-tier league, Primera FEB. According to FEB officials, it will be in a study phase and applied only to specific moments in a match, although no further details were given.
Instant replay lets referees review different angles of a play to confirm or correct an initial decision. It was first introduced in Spain’s top men’s league, the ACB, two decades ago.
