The Catalan Land Institute (Incasòl) has confirmed the purchase of 1,094 homes from InmoCaixa for nearly €90 million, according to a statement released on Friday. This acquisition, which also includes 1,014 parking spaces and 239 storage rooms, expands on the 1,064 homes the government announced it would buy at the end of 2025.

These properties are spread across 14 municipalities in Catalonia. The largest concentrations of homes are 192 in Sitges, 186 in Barcelona, 120 in Sant Just Desvern, 112 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, and 111 in Sentmenat.

Expanding Public Housing Across Catalonia

Territory Minister Sílvia Paneque stated that buying these homes is a “quick way” to expand the public housing stock. This move helps advance the government's Plan 50,000, which aims to increase the number of affordable homes available to residents.

Other municipalities included in the purchase are Cornellà de Llobregat with 84 homes, Terrassa with 78, Mataró with 68, Lleida with 49, and Tordera with 42. Smaller numbers of properties were acquired in Montornès del Vallès (20), Olot (17), Sabadell (9), and Tarragona (6).

During the same board meeting, Incasòl also introduced two new independent members to its governing body: architects Marc Riera and Maria Rubert. Their appointments aim to bring additional expertise to the institute's operations as it continues its efforts to manage and expand public land and housing resources.
