The Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC) in the Girona region has called for improved support for migrants and the preservation of Montjuïc Castle in Girona. This focus came during a visit by Ferran Pedret, a Member of Parliament and president of the socialist parliamentary group, on 24 April 2026.

The day began with a meeting between PSC representatives and several Latin American community organisations: Dagua, Acodegi, Asocolgi, and Asovergi. These groups work to support and guide newcomers in the region. During this gathering, the socialists listened to the concerns and proposals put forward by the organisations.

Highlighting Community Cohesion

The PSC emphasised the important role these community organisations play in promoting social cohesion and coexistence within Girona. Officials said the discussions underscored the party's commitment to addressing the needs of newly arrived individuals and integrating them into Catalan society.

Ferran Pedret's visit provided a platform for the PSC to reaffirm its priorities for the Girona area. The party aims to work closely with local groups to ensure effective migrant reception policies and to secure the future of significant historical sites like Montjuïc Castle.

Looking ahead, the PSC plans to continue advocating for these issues in the Catalan Parliament and at a local level. They seek to develop concrete actions and policies that reflect the proposals heard from community organisations, aiming for a more inclusive and historically aware Girona.
