In Girona, the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC) headquarters was vandalised early on Tuesday morning, according to party officials. The graffiti appeared on the pavement outside the offices on Carrer Joan Baptista La Salle, and it referred to an ongoing education strike.

The spray-painted message read: “PSC, neither socialists nor workers; solidarity with education workers on strike.” It was also signed by the OJS, which stands for Organització Juvenil Socialista, and a black X was painted on the party’s door sign.

The PSC said on social media that it had reported the incident to the Municipal Police. The party did not give further details about possible suspects or the extent of the damage beyond the painted messages.

The incident comes during a period of industrial action in the education sector. The wording of the graffiti directly linked the PSC to the dispute and criticised the party’s position, or perceived lack of support, for striking workers.
