Girona-based ORMETAL has launched new aluminium and PVC joinery and exterior protection systems designed for Catalonia’s increasingly extreme weather. The company says the products are aimed at improving home comfort and energy efficiency.
The firm’s technical team has developed high-performance designs using energy-efficient and durable materials. These include high-tech glass, lacquered and anodised finishes, and wide strips to improve climatic and acoustic sealing and insulation.
ORMETAL also makes blinds, canopies, covers, galleries and verandas. The company says these elements can protect openings, access points, patios, terraces, car parks and other outdoor areas, while still allowing people to use those spaces in harsher weather.
Better insulation can reduce heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, which lowers the energy needed for heating and cooling. It can also improve indoor comfort, help prevent condensation and damp, reduce outside noise and support a home’s energy rating. For readers following related local coverage, see our news page.
Among the new products are solar control glass, also known as smart glass, which reduces solar energy, heat and UV radiation while still letting in natural light. ORMETAL says this can cut air conditioning use and improve light and thermal comfort. The company also highlights adjustable blinds, which let residents control light and heat by orientation and time of day, while keeping natural ventilation and privacy.
ORMETAL says these systems are especially relevant for Girona, where Mediterranean conditions and climate change may bring more intense heat. The company says summer temperatures in the area could frequently exceed 35C. For more information, ORMETAL can be contacted on +34 972 476 127 or via its website.
