Three men were arrested in Girona on 6 May after Mossos d'Esquadra officers observed them attempting to hide recently stolen goods in a wooded area. The suspects, aged between 24 and 26, were caught in the act near the railway tracks around 6:30pm.

Officers saw the trio trying to conceal suitcases among the vegetation. When the young men realised they were being watched, they tried to flee but were quickly intercepted by the police. The officers then investigated what the men were hiding.

They discovered a small jewellery box containing watches, chains, and costume jewellery, along with three suitcases full of clothing. Also found were a digital camera, various documents, and several tools, including a drill, an electric screwdriver, an electric polisher, and a box of screwdrivers. The three men, all Algerian nationals, could not explain the origin of the items.

Identifying the Owner

The Mossos d'Esquadra began an enquiry to determine where the goods came from. Using the documentation found among the stolen items, they identified and located the legitimate owner. The owner confirmed that the suitcases and jewellery had just been stolen from a Girona residence.

According to officials, the men were attempting to hide the loot in the forest, presumably with the intention of retrieving it later, when they were spotted by the police. This marked their first known attempt at robbery, according to the Mossos d'Esquadra.

Charges and Recovery

Following their failed attempt, the three individuals were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a robbery with force. All the stolen objects were subsequently returned to their rightful owner. The men spent the night in a police station after their arrest.
