In Girona, Girona FC players have begun reacting after the club’s relegation from La Liga to the Segunda División, following the decisive match against Elche.
Coach Míchel said the dressing room was marked by silence, disappointment, sadness and responsibility. “The changing room was total silence, disappointment, sadness, responsibility... All the players were crying. It was not the best scenario for talking,” he told reporters after the relegation was confirmed.
Míchel was the first to speak in the Montilivi press room, followed by president Delfí Geli in the mixed zone. Players are now gradually sharing their feelings on social media.
As of now, no statements have been made by the club’s ownership. The contrast between the public comments from the coach and president, and the silence from ownership, leaves questions about the next steps for the club.
