Expanded Course Offerings Across All Districts

The Xarxa de Centres Cívics de Girona has launched its programme for the 2026–2027 academic year, offering 719 courses and workshops with a total of 10,506 places, a slight increase from the 668 activities and 10,030 places offered in 2025–2026. The civic centres continue to serve as hubs for education, participation, coexistence and social cohesion, providing diverse activities for all ages and interests.

Community-Led Programming Strengthens Local Ties

According to the Ajuntament de Girona, 91% of the programme is driven by local associations and community groups, reinforcing the role of civil society in shaping accessible, neighbourhood-based initiatives. Pre-enrolment opens from 1 to 15 September, with a public draw for places on 16 September. Classes begin on 1 October.

The strength of the Civic Centres Network lies in shared work with associations and residents. Beyond courses, these spaces create bonds, share knowledge and build community. Neighbourhood-Specific Highlights

  • Centre Cívic Onyar: Music takes centre stage with new courses in guitar, percussion, choral singing and dance, supported by local and citywide entities.
  • Centre Cívic Santa Eugènia: Over 20 local groups offer 148 courses; free community meeting spaces are reinforced, with events extending into public areas to promote shared learning.
  • Centre Cívic Ter: New programmes target youth and adults, enhancing inclusion through formative and social gathering spaces tailored to local needs.
  • Centre Cívic Sant Narcís: Initiatives like Espai Familiar, Farmàcia Viva, and Teixint el barri are consolidated. A new cycle of La Incòmoda focuses on performing arts as a tool for social transformation, including a new community musical theatre workshop.
  • Centre Cívic Pont Major-Pedret: Emphasis on historical memory and heritage through photo exhibitions, documentaries such as 'Modernisme i indústria al Pont Major' and 'Preservem la memòria', guided tours, and support for community projects like the Gegantona group and Tomba Tambors youth drumming band.
  • Centre Cívic Barri Vell-Mercadal: New resident integration efforts include meetings between associations and citizens to foster inclusivity, with a focus on promoting Catalan language and culture. Participating organisations include the Barri Vell Neighbours’ Association, The Hub, Girona Buddies, Fundació Les Voltes, and the Catalan Language Office.
  • Centre Cívic Pla de Palau: Expands with Espai Tertúlia, a new space for communal meals and connection. Continued offerings include Dimecres juganers (game nights), Circuits renovats (appliance repair workshops), and Espai +65. The Club Petanca Montilivi joins as a new programming partner, launching an intergenerational petanque school.
