Girona will host the premiere of Viatge al país dels blancs (Journey to the Land of Whites) at Ocine Girona on 12 June. The documentary follows Ousman Umar, a Senegalese man who arrived in Catalonia in 2015.
The screening begins at 19:30 and will include appearances by director Daniel Sancho and Umar. They are expected to speak with the audience after the film.
The documentary looks at Umar's life, from his beginnings in Senegal to his new life in Catalonia. It focuses on immigration, identity and the search for happiness.
The premiere is part of the Mirades del Món (World Views) series, organised by Girona City Council and the La Mirona Cultural Association. The programme aims to give visibility to human stories that often remain untold. For more on local coverage, see our news page.
Tickets cost €5 and are available on the Ocine website and at the cinema box office. More information on the programme can be found through Girona City Council and La Mirona Cultural Association.
