Girona’s free enclosed bicycle parking facility in Central Park, on Rafael Masó i Valentí, has seen a sharp rise in use, according to local officials. The service is part of the city’s push for more sustainable mobility.

The facility now has 406 registered users and about 105 regular users, with monthly usage above 620. Officials said regular use is up 74% compared with May 2025, when there were 233 registered users.

The parking area opened on 21 May 2024 and has continued to grow since launch. It offers a secure place for people to leave their bikes, which can make cycling a more practical option for daily travel in Girona.

City officials say the rise in use shows demand for secure bicycle storage remains strong. They plan to keep monitoring usage trends to see whether further changes or expansion are needed.
