Barcelona marked a major civic and cultural moment on 14 June 2026, as traditional Catalan giants paraded through the city to honour architect Antoni Gaudí. The procession also coincided with the completion of the Sagrada Família’s Jesus tower and the centenary of Gaudí’s death.

The giants from Ciutat, El Pi, Santa Maria del Mar and the Sagrada Família met at the junction of Passeig de Sant Joan and Carrer de Rosselló. There, the giant representing Antoni Gaudí from Riudoms presented a bouquet to the giantess Violant d'Hongria.

The parade began at Casa Batlló with a musical performance and institutional speeches. It then passed La Pedrera before ending in front of the Nativity Façade of the Sagrada Família, where all the participating groups gathered.

At the end of the tribute, participants made a floral offering at Gaudí's tomb in the basilica crypt. The president of the Coordinadora de Geganters de Barcelona, the head of the Ciutat Giants and the head of the Sagrada Família Giants all took part.

The celebration was organised by the Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera-Casa Milà and the Passeig de Gràcia Association. For more local coverage, see our news page.
