Rail users in Catalonia are facing more disruption ahead, even as structural reinforcement work on the Garraf Tunnels nears completion after almost three months.

The current phase is close to ending, but it is only a prelude to larger railway works planned for 2027 on the southern corridor, according to Diari de Tarragona.

The first of the two planned projects is a gauge change between Castelló and Tarragona. After that, definitive works are due to begin on the Garraf Tunnels themselves.

These projects are expected to affect rail services for an extended period, although officials have not yet set out the full scale of the disruption or any replacement transport plans.
