Fortià student Ivet del Val Casero has earned the highest mark in Catalonia for the Intermediate Vocational Training Cycle in Hospitality and Tourism. The recognition was given at the Extraordinary Awards for Vocational Training and Special Regime Education for the 2024-2025 academic year, after her studies at the Olivar Gran Institute’s Hospitality School in Figueres.
The Department of Education and Vocational Training of the Generalitat de Catalunya praised Del Val for her effort, perseverance and commitment during her time at the school. She is now studying a higher cycle in Social Integration at the Ramon Muntaner Institute in Figueres.
Del Val said she was surprised by the award. “I didn’t know I could get where I have. It has been very motivating, honestly,” she said. She added that she does not rule out returning to hospitality and tourism in the future, possibly by combining that field with her current studies.
Her immediate goal is to continue her training in social integration and then go on to university to study Social Education. The award adds a Catalonia-wide recognition to a path that is now focused on social work.
Del Val also praised the atmosphere and teaching support at the Hospitality School in Figueres. She said the centre places strong emphasis on practical training and on helping each student develop their strengths. Teachers Gerard Holgueras and Anna Doñate, who accompanied her to the ceremony, said the award reflects her effort and willingness to learn.
The Olivar Gran Institute also congratulated the teaching team that supported her throughout her training. For more local education coverage, see our news page.
