Tortosa marked a football tribute on Saturday for firefighter Antonio Serrano, who died in the Baix Ebre wildfire almost a year ago. Friends, family and colleagues gathered at the Josep Otero stadium for the event, according to Diari de Tarragona.

Serrano was closely linked to sport, especially football. Two matches were played, and the participants wore shirts with his name, image and the number he used as a goalkeeper. A minute of silence was observed before each game.

The tribute brought together people from across the local community in Tortosa, with the event centred on remembrance and support for Serrano’s family and colleagues.

José Ángel Serrano, Antonio’s brother, said the family plans to keep holding these commemorative events. The next tribute is scheduled for 12 July in Paüls.
