Firefighters in Pont de Molins, in Alt Empordà, tackled three separate fires near the AP-7 motorway on Sunday night. The blazes were brought under control and fully extinguished by around 10pm.

The alarm was raised at about kilometre 17 of the AP-7, on the Girona-bound carriageway, after a fire was reported along the motorway margin. Three fire crews were sent at first, although two crews ended up working on the incident, according to the Bombers de la Generalitat.

When crews arrived, they found three distinct fire sources. One was small, while the other two were spread across about half a kilometre.

The fires mainly affected a reed bed, with some green vegetation in the surrounding area also damaged. The Bombers de la Generalitat said the incident was fully extinguished at around 10pm.
