In Figueres, Escola Joaquim Cusí i Furtunet marked its 50th anniversary on Monday morning, 8 June 2026, with a city tour for all pupils. The activity was designed to help students learn more about Joaquim Cusí, the pharmacist from Figueres after whom the school is named.
Four routes were set up for different age groups. They included Casa Cusí on La Rambla, the former Farmàcia Moderna, now Farmàcia Genís, the City Council, Parc Bosc, Joaquim Cusí street, and the sports area.
Sixth-grade pupils acted as guides for the younger groups. They led the tours, helped with challenges, and supported activities linked to Joaquim Cusí and the city of Figueres.
The school said the day was also meant to encourage contact between pupils of different ages and strengthen their sense of belonging to the school. The event formed part of the wider programme for the school’s 50th anniversary.
The morning ended at Parc Bosc, where all participants shared breakfast in a celebratory atmosphere. The anniversary programme will continue through the year as the school reflects on its history and its links with Figueres.
