Cunit, Tarragona, saw major rail disruption on Monday afternoon after a person died when struck by an R2 Sud train at Cunit station. The incident happened shortly after 3pm and stopped services between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Vilanova i la Geltrú.
Emergency crews, including the Bombers, SEM and Mossos d'Esquadra, responded after a 112 alert. Renfe put an alternative road transport service in place between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Vilanova i la Geltrú while the line was affected.
According to Renfe, passengers from the regional train involved were evacuated with police assistance in the Baix Penedès area. Services resumed shortly after 5.30pm, with trains again running between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Vilanova i la Geltrú.
