In Catalonia, Estrella Damm has launched its 150th anniversary advert, La llegenda del Canyut, filmed in the Empordà region and premiered on Thursday afternoon, according to L'Empordà.

The campaign features several well-known personalities, including Santi Balmes, who appears peeling a potato in a kitchen overlooking a cove in Cadaqués. His character listens to a local story that shapes the advert’s narrative.

Balmes said the advert again links beer with the arrival of good weather, describing it as the kick-off for summer. The setting in Cadaqués, on the Costa Brava, keeps the focus on the coastal scenery that has often featured in the brand’s summer campaigns.

La llegenda del Canyut centres on a story that circulates within the village, using local folklore as the basis for the film. That approach places the product within a Catalan setting rather than presenting it as a standard drinks advert.

As Estrella Damm marks 150 years, the campaign also acts as a brand anniversary piece. It is expected to run through the summer, continuing the company’s long association with seasonal advertising in Catalonia. For more Catalonia news, see our news tag.
