Girona province is set to receive a €41.6 million upgrade to its electricity grid in 2026, as Endesa moves to strengthen supply across the area. The company says the plan is designed to meet rising demand and adapt the network to new market requirements.
The investment is also intended to support more renewable energy sources and the digitalisation of the system. Endesa says the aim is to maintain the quality and continuity of electricity supply, while responding to new requests linked to economic and demographic growth.
Planned work includes renovating and modernising medium and high-voltage lines, building new substations, and improving existing ones, according to company sources. Endesa also plans to add smart technologies to improve network management and speed up incident detection and resolution.
The Girona programme forms part of Endesa's 2025 to 2030 strategic plan, which sets aside more than €3 billion for electricity grid improvements and energy transition measures across Catalonia.
