In Central Catalonia, Endesa will spend €4.5 million in 2026 to reduce the risk of forest fires linked to power lines. The figure covers the counties in the area, excluding Osona, and is 39% higher than the €3.27 million planned for 2025.
The increase amounts to more than €1.27 million year on year. Endesa says the money will go towards maintenance, upgrades and other preventive work across the electrical network, with the aim of improving safety and resilience.
Wildfire prevention remains a major concern across Catalonia, especially in dry periods. In wooded areas, power lines can be a source of risk, so the company says the extra funding is meant to help reduce that threat before problems escalate.
Among the measures used in the region are helicopter inspections, including in Bages, to spot possible issues along the lines. These checks are part of the wider effort to protect forests and support public safety.
