Editorial Policy
Mission
Catalan.News provides accurate, impartial, English-language journalism covering all eight regions of Catalonia. We serve the international community — residents, workers, students, and visitors — who need reliable information about the place they live.
Independence
Catalan.News is editorially independent. Our reporting is not influenced by advertisers, political parties, or any external organisation. Pub.cat, our publisher, does not interfere with editorial decisions.
Sourcing standards
We use named sources wherever possible. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is in the public interest and the source faces genuine risk. All anonymous sources must be approved by the editor. We verify claims with at least two independent sources before publication, except for official statements from government bodies or emergency services.
Regional representation
We are committed to covering all of Catalonia, not just Barcelona. Our editorial calendar ensures regular coverage from every region, and we actively seek stories from underrepresented areas including the interior, the Pyrenees, and the southern territories.
Impartiality
We report on all sides of political and social debates. Our journalists do not express personal political opinions in their reporting. Opinion pieces and analysis are clearly labelled.
Sponsored content
Sponsored articles and advertising features are always clearly labelled with a "Sponsored Feature" tag. Sponsored content is produced separately from editorial content and never influences our news coverage.
AI and translation
Some articles are translated from Catalan and Spanish sources using AI tools and then edited by our journalists for accuracy, context, and style. We are transparent about this process. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication.
Complaints
If you believe we have breached these standards, please contact hello@catalan.news. We take all complaints seriously and will respond within 7 working days.
