In Tortosa, around 200 teachers and professors from the Terres de l'Ebre marched on 24 March 2026 to protest a preliminary agreement with the Catalan education department and the USTEC union.
The group said the deal does not go far enough, especially on inclusive education and salary changes. They argued that the extra funding set aside for inclusive education will not fix the problems already in schools.
They also said the proposed salary increase is only an update to current wages, not a real pay rise. The protest formed part of wider unrest among education staff over working conditions and resources in Catalonia.
The march began at Plaça 1 d'Octubre and went to the territorial services headquarters of the Education Department in Tortosa's historic centre. Participants carried a CGT banner reading, “No a les molles, l'educació seguim en lluita”.
