Barcelona is preparing for a sweet spring event as Croiss&Fest 2026 arrives at Poble Espanyol this weekend. From 1 to 3 May, the venue will become a hub for croissant lovers, with ten bakeries competing for the title of best sweet and best savoury croissant in the city, according to betevé.

Among the competitors, Bubó Barcelona will present a tiramisu croissant. Cruixent is bringing its 'blanca passió' (white passion) croissant, filled with white chocolate ganache, Bourbon vanilla, a fresh touch of basil, and a hint of mango and passion fruit. Brunells bakery will offer a croissant filled with pistachio cream and white chocolate.

La Canal has created a croissant with caramel dough and dark chocolate crumble, salted caramel, and more cocoa in its topping. Takashi Ochiai bakery is entering with the 'Berry bliss' croissant, filled with mascarpone cream, strawberry and mint compote, and finished with a strawberry streusel for a crunchy, aromatic touch.

Savoury Delights and Special Options

For savoury options, La Cantonada Forn & Pastisseria will feature a chocolate and pork crackling croissant. Cruixent will also offer a cross-laminated croissant filled with cheddar, frankfurter, Dijon mustard, finished with ketchup and fried onion.

Outside the competition, Cal Jan bakery from Torredembarra will showcase a white chocolate, toasted coconut, and mango croissant. Noi del Pa sense Gluten will also be present, ensuring gluten-free options for coeliacs, betevé reported.

Two awards will be given to the competing bakeries: a jury prize, decided by gastronomy professionals, and a public prize, voted for by festival attendees. Visitors can cast their vote for their favourite pastry.

Workshops and Entertainment

Beyond tastings, the festival will host various workshops. Gisela from Tartas Bastante Majas will teach how to combine croissants and biscuits. Chef Rafa Antonín from Casa Rafuel will offer a free course on Saturday, 2 May, revealing the secrets to a perfect potato omelette.

Wine tasting sessions with Locos del Vino and speciality coffee workshops with Parcelona experts will also be available over the three days. All workshop registrations include access to the Poble Espanyol grounds and general festival activities. The event will also feature live music, DJ sessions, contests, giveaways, and a children's play area. Tickets and reservations can be made via the official festival website.
