The Costa Daurada, located in Tarragona province, is strengthening its international presence as a premier cycling tourism destination. This effort, led by the Tarragona Provincial Council's Tourism Board, comes in a year when the Tour de France will pass through several municipalities in the region. The board has undertaken two international promotional campaigns, in collaboration with the Catalan Tourist Agency, aiming to attract specialist audiences and position the area as an ideal year-round cycling destination.
The first initiative took place in Liege, Belgium. The Costa Daurada was present at the Village space of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege race, a major classic on the professional cycling calendar. This event is a significant draw for thousands of European enthusiasts. During this gathering, various cycling routes from the region were promoted, alongside the Costa Daurada's main features as a specialist cycling tourism destination.
Boosting International Profile
The second promotional activity was held in London. This involved a presentation of Catalonia's cycling tourism destinations by the Catalan Tourist Agency. The Costa Daurada was highlighted as a key destination due to its diverse routes and the range of tourist attractions and services it offers. The event also served as a meeting point for professionals and influencers within the sector.
These two actions are part of the Tourism Board's broader strategy to solidify the international profile of cycling tourism in both the Costa Daurada and the Terres de l'Ebre. Beyond the Tour de France's passage through the province, which officials expect to significantly boost the Costa Daurada's international visibility as a cycling destination, the region has already hosted a full stage of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya in Camp de Tarragona this year. Additionally, in August, the fifth stage of La Vuelta will run between Falset and Roquetes, connecting the Costa Daurada and the Terres de l'Ebre.
