Corpus Christi has brought flower carpets to streets in Guissona and Lleida this weekend, with local groups and institutions taking part in the tradition.

In Guissona, Fluvià Street was covered in flowers this afternoon. There were 22 pieces, each between one and two metres long, with floral and geometric designs, plus motifs linked to the town’s social life.

Parent associations from several schools, migrant groups, the parish and the Guissona Museum joined the activity. Mayor Jaume Ars said the celebration is another expression of social cohesion in the municipality through local traditions.

In Lleida, members of the Corpus Christi Board met this afternoon at the Casa de la Festa de la Mariola. They stripped petals from flowers, including carnations and roses, for the carpets that will line the Eix Comercial, leading to Plaça Paeria, tomorrow.

The tradition continues to bring people together through temporary floral art and a shared public celebration. For more local coverage, see our news page.
