In Mollet del Vallès, Mossos d'Esquadra arrested four men suspected of stealing copper cable from Rodalies railway infrastructure near the Mollet-Santa Rosa station.

Police said officers from the local station were alerted at around 2am on Monday, 25 May, after a report of people taking copper from the tracks. The four men were aged 19, 25, 25 and 41.

When patrols arrived, the suspects ran off. One man hid in bushes and was wearing gloves, according to the Catalan police statement. Officers also found pliers and about 200 metres of copper cable ready to be moved.

About an hour later, an unmarked patrol stopped the other three men as they headed towards a vehicle they were believed to have planned to use to leave the area.

All four were arrested on suspicion of theft and appeared before the duty court in Mollet del Vallès on the same day, 25 May. For more Catalonia crime updates, see our news tag.
