Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella district is at the centre of a new international training effort, as professionals from the Early Childhood Development and Care Centre, CDIAP, travelled to Maputo, Mozambique, to train local health teams in early childhood care.
The programme focused on early intervention, including how to identify developmental needs and provide support for children in their early years, according to Barcelona City Council officials.
The visit is part of wider cooperation between Barcelona and international partners to share expertise in social services. The aim is to improve support for young children in places where specialist care may be harder to access.
Officials said the project builds on previous efforts to expand early childhood support networks. The long-term goal is to help establish local programmes in Maputo that can continue supporting families and children.
