Cervera is set to lose one of its best-known sweet shops, as Pastisseria Bomboneria Agustí on Santa Anna street will close on 31 May after 54 years in business.
The shop in Lleida has been run by three generations of the Agustí family and has sold cakes, pastries and other baked goods over the years.
The family thanked customers for “the trust and support over all these years” and said it plans to open a new commercial venture as a café in the near future.
The closure comes as another historic sweet shop in the province, La Caputxeta Dolça in Lleida city, has also shut permanently. It was based in Plaça de la Sal and specialised in confectionery and traditional products.
La Caputxeta Dolça closed a year after the death of Marc Sangrà, who managed the business for many years and became a familiar figure in the Eix Comercial shopping district. In recent weeks, workers removed confectionery trays, dismantled displays and emptied some interior furniture from the premises.
The closure adds to a growing list of businesses shutting down in the Eix Comercial, including El Genet Blau bookshop, Calucho Ciclisme and Trèvol toy shop. For more local business coverage, see our news page.
