Cerdanyola del Vallès has activated its municipal action plan for flood risk in response to forecasts of intense rain and storms. The Centre for Operational Coordination of Catalonia (CECAT) and the Catalan Meteorological Service (SMC) issued the alert.
According to information from Civil Protection, rainfall could exceed 20 mm in 30 minutes across much of the Catalan coast and pre-coast, including the Vallès Occidental region. This is expected between 2pm and 8pm today, Tuesday 12 May. The showers may also bring thunderstorms, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
Risk maps from CECAT place Cerdanyola del Vallès in a very high-risk zone for the afternoon. Latest forecasts suggest precipitation could start around 5pm and continue until midnight.

In light of the weather predictions, the city council has activated municipal monitoring and coordination protocols. These measures aim to address any incidents caused by the heavy rainfall. The council urges residents to be extremely careful when travelling and to avoid flood-prone areas, streams, and underpasses.
