The Catalan government has approved the purchase of 1,094 homes from InmoCaixa for about €90 million, a move aimed at expanding public housing across Catalonia. The deal was authorised by the executive council and approved by the Institut Català del Sòl (Incasòl) board of directors.
The acquisition also includes 1,014 parking spaces and 239 storage rooms. The properties are spread across 14 Catalan municipalities, including Barcelona, Tarragona and Lleida.
Incasòl's board first approved the purchase on 14 May, after the government announced last November that it intended to expand the public housing stock. The executive council formally authorised the transaction this Tuesday.
The homes are distributed across several towns and cities. Barcelona will receive 186 units, Cornellà de Llobregat 84, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat 112, Lleida 49, Mataró 68, Montornès del Vallès 20, Olot 17, Sabadell 9 and Sant Just Desvern 120.
Further allocations include 111 homes in Sentmenat, 192 in Sitges, 6 in Tarragona, 78 in Terrassa and 42 in Tordera. The full purchase adds housing capacity across the region, with the largest allocations going to Barcelona, Sitges and Sant Just Desvern. For more Catalonia-wide coverage, see our news page.
