A Catalonia-Quebec architecture forum is due to be held at the Seoul National University Museum of Art, known as SNUMoA, in Seoul’s Gwanak district. Promoted by the Catalan Government’s delegation in the Republic of Korea and the Quebec Government Office in Seoul, it aims to create links between the architectural communities of the three territories.
For Catalan architects and cultural organisations, the meeting will provide an international professional exchange focused on how place, climate, culture and heritage shape the built environment.
Marc Zaballa i Camprubí, secretary of the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC), Catalonia’s professional body for architects, is listed as a speaker. COAC’s official governance page identifies him as secretary of its 2026–2030 governing board.
Programme focuses on cities, climate and heritage
According to the forum programme reported by exterior.cat, the discussions will cover:
- the influence of context and territory on architectural design;
- Seoul’s urban development;
- the effect of Quebec’s climate and culture on architecture; and
- Catalonia’s distinctive architectural heritage.
The programme will also include a presentation titled Traces of the Korean Pavilion at Expo 67 in Montreal, examining the history of the Korean pavilion at the 1967 Montreal World Exposition.
Catalonia and Quebec have a longstanding official relationship
The Generalitat says the bilateral agreement signed by the governments of Catalonia and Quebec in 1996 has been fundamental to their relationship. The Catalan Government delegation for the United States and Canada states that it works to build partnerships in areas including research, academia and culture.
COAC’s current board includes Zaballa as secretary alongside dean Sandra Bestraten i Castells and treasurer Mònica Vila i Cases.
