Tarragona police say a 54-year-old driver was unhurt after his car overturned at a bus stop on Avinguda Marquès de Montoliu on Thursday, 11 June.
The crash briefly disrupted traffic towards Avinguda Catalunya, and the northbound lanes were closed while emergency crews worked at the scene. Drivers using this route in Tarragona should check live traffic notices before travelling if there are reports of lane closures.
What Tarragona police said
According to Tarragona's Guàrdia Urbana, the vehicle struck the corner of a raised bus stop platform and flipped onto its side. Emergency services were alerted at 4.36pm through the 112 emergency number, and medical staff, firefighters and police attended the scene.
Firefighters removed the driver through the car's boot. He had minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being discharged without a hospital transfer, according to officials. Police later said he tested negative for alcohol.
What drivers should do next
Guàrdia Urbana said the driver told officers that sun glare blinded him as he turned from Carrer Antoni Maria Claret onto Avinguda Marquès de Montoliu. Police said that manoeuvre caused the car to mount the bus stop platform and overturn sideways.
