In Pallars Sobirà, the Catalan government has committed to drafting a preliminary study for the Bonaigua tunnel, according to Territory Minister Sílvia Paneque. She gave the confirmation to local mayors and the president of the comarcal council.
Paneque also said repairs to the C-28 road will go ahead without closing traffic. The road has been damaged by landslides and ground movement, with the carriageway and embankment affected.
The pledge follows repeated requests from local leaders. A month earlier, mayors gathered at the Bonaigua mountain pass to call for urgent repairs, to keep the C-28 open during any work, and to move ahead with the tunnel project.
The government said the tunnel study is expected to be drafted during the first quarter of next year. The next stage will be to complete that study and carry out the C-28 repairs.
