Baxi Manresa coach Diego Ocampo has praised the "Festa de l'Afició" (Fan Festival), an initiative by the Baxi Manresa Animation Stand, ahead of Sunday's match against Burgos in Manresa.
The festival, inspired by a similar event two years ago organised by a group of friends, will see supporters gather at Cal Xavi from 12pm. Shuttle buses will run from the pavilion at 12:30pm and 1:20pm to transport fans to the venue. Attendees can enjoy a popular lunch of a sandwich, patatas bravas, and a drink for €10, with a raffle for team merchandise donated by the players.
At 3pm, a parade will start, leading up to the game which begins at 5pm. Ocampo expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "All of this makes you excited to be in the city and in Central Catalonia, where many people get involved with the team. A group of them are leaders, building and doing things to encourage people who like basketball to experience it in a special way."
Coach Ocampo's Praise for Fan Initiative
Ocampo continued to commend the fans' efforts, saying, "What they have done is impressive. It shows incredible initiative. And then, for people to follow them, it makes us excited to be in an area where people live basketball in such a special way." The coach's comments highlight the deep connection between the team and its supporters in the region.
Players from Baxi Manresa have also shown their support for the initiative. A video shared by the Animation Stand's social media account earlier in the week featured players endorsing the festival. Such events are seen as crucial for building momentum and morale, especially as the team seeks a victory that would secure their virtual permanence in the ACB league.
The "Festa de l'Afició" is expected to draw a large crowd, creating a vibrant atmosphere before the critical match. The collective effort from fans and the club aims to provide a strong home advantage as Baxi Manresa faces Burgos.
