Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will extend the V5 bus line to the junction of Carrer Motors and Carrer Acer in the La Marina del Prat Vermell neighbourhood of Sants-Montjuïc, Barcelona. This new origin/final stop will be active from Monday, 27 April. The route indicator for the V5 will change to "La Marina del Prat Vermell – Pedralbes" to reflect this expansion.

The extended V5 route will add eight new stops and remove three existing ones. The line will stretch approximately two kilometres further south from Carrer de la Mare de Déu de Port, continuing along Carrer del Foc and Passeig de la Zona Franca to the corner of Carrer Motors. From there, it will proceed to Carrer de l'Acer, where the new final stop will be located. Buses will then turn onto Carrer de Cal Cisó to rejoin the ascending route back to Passeig de la Zona Franca.

Route Changes and Impact

The three stops being cancelled are stop 2495 on Carrer Mare de Déu de Port and stop 3517 on Carrer Cisell, both in the 'sea' direction. In the 'mountain' direction, the former origin/final stop at Passeig Zona Franca-Sant Eloi (stop 3546) will be removed. According to TMB, the V5 line transported nearly 2.8 million people in 2025, a 4.5% increase from 2024. The line records an average of almost 9,000 validations on weekdays, 3,500 on Saturdays, and 2,700 on public holidays.

The V5 operates from 5:50am to 10pm on weekdays and from 6am to 10pm on Saturdays and public holidays. TMB officials confirmed that the route extension will not affect the line's usual frequency. This initiative is part of the Bus Agenda 2026-2030, a series of measures designed to improve urban and interurban bus services. Specifically for Barcelona, the agenda includes increasing service in La Marina, within the Sants-Montjuïc district.

Beyond the V5 line extension, the Bus Agenda also plans for a new express line to start operating during 2026. These changes aim to increase territorial coverage in La Marina del Prat Vermell and provide a vertical link to newly constructed housing, many of which are municipal public housing initiatives.
