Barcelona teachers blocked a section of Via Augusta again on Friday afternoon, outside the Generalitat's Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, as talks over pay and working conditions continued.

Around 50 education workers took part in the protest, which began at about 4.20pm. The same stretch of road had already been closed earlier in the day, from about 10.20am until 1.30pm, before the group returned after a break of more than two hours.

During the demonstration, teachers chanted, 'Luchando también estamos educando' (Fighting, we are also educating), in support of their union representatives.

Education Minister Esther Niubó took part in Friday's discussions. Unions are pressing for salary increases and other improvements to working conditions, but representatives said no agreement had yet been reached on pay.

The dispute remains part of wider sector talks in Catalonia, with teachers seeking a deal that addresses both wages and classroom conditions. For more local coverage, see our news page.
