Barcelona City Council and the Mossos d'Esquadra have joined forces to combat rising youth violence and the spread of youth gangs in the Catalan capital and its metropolitan area.
Officials said the collaboration seeks to address a growing concern among residents. The strategy includes a focus on social integration and support for young people.
According to officials, there is a need for more mediators and social integrators. They also highlighted the importance of increased presence during the transition from secondary education (ESO) to the working world. "They are looking for ways of affirmation in a society that has hardly accepted them," officials stated.
